Overview

Shorix ("we", "our", "us") provides free online file conversion and utility tools. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

Files You Upload

All file conversions happen locally in your browser. Your files are not uploaded to our servers for processing. They remain on your device and are cleared when you close the page.

Information We Store

  • Local storage: Theme preference, conversion history, credits, and settings are stored in your browser's local storage.
  • Account data: If you create an account, we store your name, email, and a securely hashed password (bcrypt) in our server database. Passwords are never stored in plain text and never kept in your browser's local storage.
  • Device identifier: A non-identifying device fingerprint stored in your browser is used to enforce daily free usage limits.
  • Support tickets: When you contact support, we store your message and contact details to respond.
  • Order records: If you purchase, we store your order amount, timestamp, and any payment screenshot you upload (e.g. via JazzCash) to verify the transaction. Payment card details are never collected by us.
  • Analytics: Anonymous page-view timestamps to improve the product.

IP Address & Device Tracking

To operate, secure and improve the service, we automatically collect the following technical information when you visit Shorix:

  • IP address (including approximate geographic location such as country, region and city),
  • Device type and model (e.g. mobile phone model, tablet, desktop),
  • Operating system, browser, screen resolution and language,
  • Pages/tools you visit and the page you came from (referrer).

We use this data for visitor analytics, fraud & abuse prevention (for example blocking spam or payment abuse), and to understand which tools visitors use most. Device and location information is collected with the help of a third-party geolocation service (ipwho.is), which receives your IP address only to resolve the approximate location. This data is not sold to anyone.

We also apply daily usage limits per IP address / device on free tools to keep the service fair for all users. Your IP address is stored on our servers together with your usage records so these limits can be enforced, and repeated abuse may result in the IP address being restricted.

Cookies & Third-Party Services

We use CDN services (Font Awesome, Google Fonts) and the following third-party services, which may process your data under their own privacy policies:

  • Google & GitHub: used for optional social sign-in (Google OAuth / GitHub OAuth). Only your name and email are received if you choose to sign in this way.
  • Google reCAPTCHA: protects signup/login forms against automated abuse.
  • Resend: transactional emails (welcome, password reset, magic link, ticket replies).
  • AI providers (Google Gemini, Groq, Hugging Face, Cloudflare AI): AI Studio content is generated by these providers; only your prompt is sent to them, never your account data or files.
  • ipwho.is: resolves the approximate location of your IP address for analytics and abuse prevention.
  • JazzCash: payment processing for purchases. Transactions happen on JazzCash's platform; we only receive a confirmation and your uploaded screenshot.

A consent banner is shown on your first visit before analytics-related storage is used. You can dismiss it at any time by clearing your browser's local storage.

Sharing of Data

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We share data with the third-party service providers listed above only to the extent needed to operate the service (for example, sending an email through Resend or generating AI content through an AI provider).

Your Rights

You may clear your browser's local storage at any time to delete your local data. To delete an account, contact us via Support.
